Discover the Secret Message Underneath Your Stressed Life

by admin on September 20, 2012

What if the stress that you are feeling today has a purpose…a purpose that you might be missing? If you focus only on the stress and getting rid of it as fast as you can, you might be missing an important message.

Sure…we all have days that are stressed to the max. You’ve had those days and so have I. Days when you need to get the kids to school before work and one of them gets really sick with the flu…you have a report due at work and can’t miss the day and yet, you feel pulled…torn…between duty and love for your child.

Then on the way to do what you have to do at work…so that you can spend the remainder of the day being a nursemaid to your child…the car gets a flat tire…we have all had those kinds of days…

But what about the stress that doesn’t go away? The kind of stress that is always there, lying in wait…where you feel like you are running at full tilt and you never get the opportunity to catch your breath?

What Message from your Unconscious Mind are you Missing?

That kind of stress…the chronic stress that does so much harm to relationships, to lives, to careers and families…needs to be dealt with in a way that you might not have thought of…yet…

Ask yourself these questions and see what comes up for you…don’t judge…just listen…to what your unconscious mind wants you to know about that stress that you are ready to go of…now…

• Do you know what you want? Think hard about this one…and those answers that come up…are they your answers?

• Are you living the life you want? What does a life that you want look like? If you could draw me a picture…what would be in that picture? Who would be in that picture? What would you be doing on a daily basis?

• Are you taking care of yourself? Really…most people who are stressed are terrible at looking after themselves. When was the last time that you sat down and ate 3 square meals during the day? No…a bag of chips and a chocolate bar is not a meal…: D Even if you did eat 3 square meals, did you sit down and enjoy them…did you chew your food or did you eat so quickly you didn’t even taste it?

The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.  ~William James

Don’t let the stress win.

You are the one who needs to win this battle. With so much information overload and a perceived time crunch, you need to do whatever it takes to make stress a part of your past…evaluate your life and how you are living it…

If you are so busy that you can’t take 15 minutes to yourself each day to rest and rejuvenate (even if that is for exercise) then you are too busy. Period.

I did an interesting exercise last month. I tracked my time for an entire week…I tracked my time in 15 minute increments on an excel spread sheet…and what an eye opener that was! It showed me, in black and white, that my life was more balanced that I thought it was…there was family time scheduled, work time, rest time, exercise time, food prep…you get the picture.

And you know, just knowing that I was actually getting so much done, was a big stress reliever for me…and I could pat myself on the back and say “Hey, you’re doing really well…good job!”. So take a look and see that you are doing a lot…and some of you…it may be too much…but you’ll never know if you don’t ask yourself those questions…and do it…letting go of the stress might be the best thing you ever did for yourself.

Great article! Ya know, I used to be focused on "change it fast" whenever I felt something a little uncomfortable. Now, I start by paying attention to what the underlying message might be. Its amazing how much more progress is made when I'm willing to just "stand in it" for a minute and pay attention!

Great post Sherie! Those are really wonderful questions that we should all be asking ourselves regularly, not just when we're super-stressed!

Great article Sherie. I loved the statement, that if you don't have 15 minutes for yourself then you're too busy.

Great article Sherrie. So true, often that 15 minutes seems so far out of reach… but learning to take it anyways.  Great insight here.  Thanks!
